Reborn Care Instructions

Care of the Hair: Your reborn may have been rooted with mohair or human hair. Eyelashes and eyebrows may have been rooted as well. The hairs were glued in from the inside of the head. To prevent significant hair loss, DO NOT excessively brush the hair or at the hair or eyelashes. To comb or brush the hair, make sure the hair is wet some. It is normal to lose a couple strands of hair, while brushing and combing it. NEVER comb the hair dry, if it’s tangled. Do not hold the head under water. Water can get into the cloth body and cause the body to develop mold.

Dress and undressing your baby: Undress and dress your reborn carefully. Keep sharp items away from the face and painted skin to prevent starching of the paint. Avoid putting tight clothes on the reborn. Your nails, etc could rub off paint, eyelashes, or eyebrows. It is suggested that you wash new clothes before putting them on the reborn. Dye from clothes can damage the paint. Markers and ink pens can also damage the paint. To protect the reborn legs, you can put a pair of tights on the doll to protect the paint. Avoid leaving the reborn in EXCESSIVE COLD or HEAT. Excessive coldness or heat can cause the doll to crack or warp. If your reborn has a jointed body, it can be posed in different positions. Never force a limb into a position because it can cause to limb to become unattached to the body. Support your reborn while propping and posing them.

Your reborn is not a toy: Reborns are not intended for kids. They are not toys. They are a one of kind artwork/heirloom collectors item. Small children should not be allowed to handle or play with reborn. The reborn should be handled gently as if it was a real baby. Protect the painted skin. Your reborn has been painted with many layers of genesis paints. Although the paint has been cured, the paint is still delicate. Any contact with natural skin oils, creams, oils, or hair care products may remove the paint or make the reborn shiny. THE REBORN CANNOT BE SUBMERGED IN WATER OR BATHED. Do not use any soap or anything that contains alcohol on the reborn. It can remove the paint and ruin the reborn. You may use a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe the reborn down. A good way to keep your reborn dust free, oil free and to protect the paint is to dress it in a footed sleeper and keep wrapped in a blanket. Zip ties are used to secure the limbs. I tried to cover the cut ends, but I’m not always able to cover the cut ends. So BEWARE of SHARP EDGES when dressing, undressing, and handling the reborn.

Following the above instructions will help your reborn remain in good condition.
